Maintenance Technician


Full-Time Position

Department: Building Services

Hours: Full Time, Days, Rotating on Call

Special Training: High School diploma or equivalent and certifications in the below criteria is a plus, but not required. Prefer at least 5 years in the healthcare maintenance field.

Description: General Summary:  
Working under the direction and supervision of the Physical Plant Manager, the Technician will be responsible for the repairing and up keep of all equipment and grounds for the hospital and hospital-owned clinics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
*Complete daily work orders/assignments.
*Make necessary repairs such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC (belts, motors, piping, steam traps, beds, wheelchairs electrical fixtures, etc.)
*Complete duties assigned within the facility and the hospital-owned clinics Preventative Maintenance Program.
*Assist with fire drills and conducting inspections of the life safety systems and equipment (fire alarm, fire suppression, nurse call, and emergency generators).
*Complete tasks associated with grounds maintenance (landscaping, snow plowing, etc.)
*Will be required to be On-Call and in an On-Call rotation designated by the manager.
*May be required to fill in from time to time for the 2nd shift custodian.
*Serves on the Hospital Security Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
*Must have a clear and valid Michigan driver's license
*Must be able to walk, stand, lift (50-100 lbs.), bend, and work on hands/knees
*Must be able to climb and work off ladders and roofs
*Must be able to work in confined spaces
*Must have the skills, abilities, and qualifications to complete the duties and responsibilities of this job description

Working Conditions:
Works inside and outside at all hospital properties.  May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, and dust.

Laboratory Technician or Technologist

Description: Position Requirements:

*Confident and proficient enough to work alone.
*Good phlebotomy skills.
*Use techniques specified in procedure manuals for analysis of patient specimens to include urine, blood, sputum, feces and other biological fluids. (No Microbiology performed at this lab)
*Receives written (LIS) or Laboratory requests for routine or STAT orders.
*Performs chemical, serological, hematological and microscopic tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
*Performs transfusion testing, including ABO/RH types and cross-match to ascertain compatibility.
*Performs blood gas testing.
*Perform Calibration and QC on all lab equipment as needed.
*Reports any special circumstances or critical to the provider and blood bank to the pathologist.
*Processes and report test (CLIA waived, moderate and high complexity) result in a timely manner.
*Performs clerical functions as needed and any designated functions assigned by the Lab Manager.

Job Summary: Emergency Department Manager will be responsible and accountable to the Director of Nursing for patient management and oversight of the emergency department including and assisting with all services associated with trauma care. Advocates and supports quality improvement, patient safety, and infection control for the emergency department. Supervises assigned personnel to the department and liaisons with other departments for support of emergency services operations.

*Interacts with physicians and other department managers regarding patient care issues in collaboration with the Director of Nursing
*Participates on committees as assigned for purposes of developing and implementing standards for quality of emergency services, reviewing quality and risk and identifying and developing quality improvement plans accordingly along with implement overseeing activities required to complete established QI projects
*Responsible, in collaboration with the Director of Nursing to monitor budget on a regular basis
*Ensures ED staff coverage and adjusts quickly to short-notice staffing deficiencies.  Adjusts work scheduling to meet organization needs and to ensure safe patient care staffing
*Addresses compliance with patient care policies, protocol and procedures
*Conducts annual evaluations and ensures competencies are performed for all members of the ED services
*Responsible for preparing occurrence reports in accordance with Risk Management protocol and policies whether they be patient, family, or visitor
*Continually monitors patient satisfaction and investigates ways to improve the level of satisfaction
*Demonstrates the ability to use all channels of communication to address concerns, problems, and conflicts with other departments

Description: With instruction from the HIPAA/Corporate Compliance Officer, the HIM Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the functions of the HIM Department. It is the Coordinator's responsibility to ensure that Patient Health Information/Medical Record is complete and properly stored in accordance with standard procedures established by the hospital and regulatory agencies. The Coordinator will work closely with the professional staff and allied health providers.

Required Qualifications

Education: Associates degree of Health Information Technology or Bachelors degree of Health Information Administration

Certification : Successful completion of the RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification exam or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification exam *Must currently have one of these certifications to be considered

Experience: Must have at least 2 years experience in the Health Information Management field, 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred

Additional Requirements: Must possess and demonstrate management skills with abilities to communicate, problem solve and accountability. Must have an excellent knowledge of medical terminology. Must have knowledge of legal issues involving the patient record. Must have a working knowledge of ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding. Must have working knowledge of AOA, CMS and HIPPA requirements. Must have knowledge of state and federal regulations in regards to Health Information. Excellent skills and knowledge of personal computers and software programs used to: prepare reports, compile statistics, prepare presentations and research information.
