Sheridan Community Hospital has received the final written report giving them a three-year accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) and Critical Access Hospital Association.
Accreditation by HFAP demonstrates that a healthcare facility has met the standards set forth by HFAP to provide high quality care and compliance with governmental regulations. The three-person surveying team inspected the hospital's policies, procedures, physical plant, and many other items for compliance with their standards. A three-year accreditation is the maximum a hospital can receive.
SCH takes its accreditation seriously; having it serves many important purposes, said Betsie Edwards, quality coordinator for SCH. “It validates our quality of services to the community.” She went on to say, “The surveyors were impressed with the staffs’ dedication to our patients and their commitment to coordinating the best of care.”
According to Kevin Cawley, SCH’s chief executive officer, “The accomplishment was realized because of the hard work from all the employees, medical staff, board of directors, and volunteers of Sheridan Community Hospital.” He added, “We seek voluntary accreditation because we are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality of care and being accredited by HFAP challenges us to attain that high level of care.”
